A week ago I was driving around St. Paul looking for something to sketch. I drove past this older house and noticed a dalmatian sitting outside the house, as if it was guarding the sidewalk. It was a nice feature that added to the overall charm of the house. I parked across the street and began sketching in my car. As minutes ticked by, I realized that it was a statue and not a real dog! I liked the cluttered driveway, trash cans, sidewalk lights poking up askew, and the fake dog sitting at attention! It looked so real, down to its markings and a reddish-pink loose collar around its neck. It was a fun sketch to do in the warm sunshine and reminded me, that I can always find something interesting to sketch!
