I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus with sketching but am jumping back in now! Last night found us at the Big River Pizza in Lowertown St. Paul. We were treated to the Equinox Jazz group, consisting of a singer, bassist, saxophone, and keyboards. Their awesome jazz filled the restaurant and trickled out the open door to the sidewalk. The pizza is made on a wood-burning oven and reminds me of Punch Pizza. The large industrial-style space and tall windows adds to this fantastic venue! Mears Park was a block away, so we walked over to where the Twin Cities Jazz Festival was in full swing. The main stage band was the Charanga Tropical group, an American Salsa band. Singing lead vocals was the amazing Mayato Rivera. Everywhere people danced, clapped, and enjoyed the music. This was a huge band with singers, pianist, trombones, flute, violins, and several types of drums. They really rocked the place! The weather was chilly and rainy, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. Check out the link below and go see some jazz this weekend! https://www.twincitiesjazzfestival.com/
