Meatballs at ASI

Last week I went to the American Swedish Institute to drop off a pastel for the Lake Country Pastel Society Show. While there, I sampled the meatballs, which were served minus the gravy on a bed of pureed potatoes with cucumber sauce and lingonberries. I am not Swedish, but found this dish to be out of this world! The flavorings were paired so well together! And a cup of hot Chai tea was the icing on the cake.

After lunch, I drew this sketch of the cafe where I sat and the tall windows that looked out onto the Turnblad Mansion. I have toured the mansion before and it is amazing. I liked the windows, turrets, and architecture, and made sure to sketch the ladies a table away too. Outside in the courtyard, children explored Christmas displays and ran around in the cold. After the sketch was complete, I poked around the gift shop and gift gallery. It was a fun time to see something different—the ASI at Christmas!
