Textures!

This is a pretty simple post, I’m sharing some recent sketches where I worked on textures. Textures are everywhere! I had fun sketching a stuffed animal from my daughter’s collection. Synthetic fur is fuzzy and fun, and I couldn’t resist!

Here’s the final pic… I had fun with pen and watercolors, then applied Gelly Roll white pen to get all the fur marks.

I did also a sketch for a USK prompt a couple weeks ago that got me sketching an old house in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood in St. Paul. I parked on Summit Avenue and admired the large mansions and historic houses around me. I chose one with a turret. I sketched in my car, as it was cold. I loved all the textures in the brick work, the shingles, the windows, the decorations, and the turret! I kept things loose and fun.

It’s fun to look around, textures are everywhere! And they are great fun to sketch!
