I did a “Winter Getaway” sketch prompt with our local Urban Sketchers chapter. I chose some pictures from a vacation I took a few years ago, Bermuda. A British island territory, Bermuda sits off the coast of the US out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Shaped like a rough fish hook, this beautiful island boasts pink beaches, a bustling town, Hamilton, plenty of sunshine, boats, restaurants, and amazing azure waters. I would love to go back again! Here are a few pictures to give you an idea…

I decided to sketch from a photo which contained boats and white-roofed houses on the land. The roofs are tiled and rainwater streams down and is used by the people of Bermuda.

Finally, I looked at this sketch (this is cropped for a Facebook banner). I had the lower half of the page which was blank, and I decided to add a couple pieces of architecture today. After finishing the sketch, framing it, and adding a little lettering and text, I’m pretty happy with it!
